Sicilian Roots Immersion
An immersion in ancient culture, biodynamic agriculture, food you'll never eat anywhere else, and a way of life you can only find here. Led personally by Christopher Linea — Sicilian by heritage, on the ground here for years, and the founder of Homestead Ventures.
The idea
A small group. A working olive homestead. A native New Yorker with deep Sicilian roots — sharing the island the way it deserves to be shared.
I’m Christopher Linea. I was born and raised in New York, but my father was born in Sicily and immigrated to the United States, and our family roots trace back to Southern Italy. Sicily has always been in me, and after years of building a life here, I want to share it with family, friends, and anyone who’s ready to see what makes this island one of the most extraordinary places on earth.
Sicily is on another level of richness. Going here is like going to Egypt — that same feeling of stepping into something ancient, layered, still alive. Greek temples, Norman cathedrals, Baroque villages, Arab-Norman mosaics, and centuries-old olive terraces that are still worked by hand. The rhythm is medieval in the best way — slow, deliberate, tied to the land and the seasons — but with modern conveniences woven in where they matter.
Most Sicily trips are hotels, buses, and photo stops. What I’m offering is the opposite. You’ll spend real time on a working olive grove in the Nebrodi hills, learn how oil is actually made from tree to tin, drink wine with the families who make it, eat in kitchens where the recipes are six generations old, and walk the same streets people have walked for thousands of years.
I keep the group small on purpose. I plan the route personally. I drive. I introduce you to the growers, the pressers, the priests and the shepherds. What you’ll leave with is the Sicily I’ve been getting to know for years — not a highlight reel, but the real thing.
To have seen Italy without having seen Sicily is not to have seen Italy at all, for Sicily is the clue to everything.— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe · Italian Journey, 1787
The offerings
The shorter workshop is focused on the harvest itself. The full week goes deeper — harvest included, plus the wider Sicily.
Bring a friend — save $500+ per person on either package
Package 01 · Focused
Learn how oil is really made.
Available October – November only
Five days on the homestead in the Nebrodi hills. You'll pick, sort, and cold-press biodynamic olive oil the way it's been done for centuries — then take home a bottle of oil from the trees you harvested. Between harvest sessions we'll get you out into the region: street food in Palermo or Catania, coastal Cefalù, and authentic visits with local producers making provolone, mozzarella, dry-cured meats, and traditional Sicilian barbecue — the real stuff, in the kitchens of the people who make it.
Perfect for anyone who wants to understand how great olive oil is actually made, meet the real producers behind Sicilian food culture, and take home a bottle of the real thing.

The real Sicily, from north coast to Mount Etna.
Autumn · Spring · Winter editions
Seven days across Sicily, guided personally. Palermo's markets and street food, Mount Etna, ancient Greek temples, family-run vineyards, hilltop churches, national parks, authentic producer visits (cheesemakers, salumi, Sicilian barbecue), and if you time it right — the olive harvest itself. A small group, a founder-led route, no bus tour anywhere in sight.
Three departures per year. Autumn (Oct-Nov, with harvest), Spring (Apr-May, wildflowers & festivals), and Winter (Jan-Feb, quieter, Etna snow-capped). Small groups only.
Inquire About the Immersion →What's NOT included: Flights to Sicily (fly into Palermo or Catania), some meals outside the group experiences (a real part of Sicily is discovering your own trattoria), travel insurance, personal wine & souvenir purchases. We recommend budgeting an extra $30–$60/day for meals on your own.
A sample rhythm
Every departure varies a little. Weather, harvest timing, festivals, and the group all shape the route. But here's the general shape.

Why this trip is different
Capped at eight guests. Nobody gets lost, nobody gets ignored, and the conversation stays real. You'll actually remember the other people you traveled with.
I plan the route, I drive the van, I introduce you to every person along the way. No hired guides who don't live here — just me, in the country I've been building a life in.
You meet the actual growers, pressers, vintners, cooks, and shepherds — not resort staff or scripted performers. Sicily works because these people are real, and they're happy to open the door.
Book & questions
I confirm every booking personally — small groups mean I want to know who's coming. Reach out and I'll send package details, next available dates, and answer any questions before you commit.
